Over the course of my life in painting, I have, not often enough, juxtaposed birds and manmade structures. This scene intrigued me in part because of the mission architecture of the building (at San Simeon on the Central California Coast) with the large decorative opening that seemed like an eye to me. The California Gulls are eyeing each other as well.
